Rachel Carson Estuarine Research Reserve – Beaufort, NC
Ms. Sutton spent a portion of her 2012 Summer volunteering as an observer in the Rachel Carson Estuarine Research Reserve. Most of her observations were made from her environmentally friendly kayak or SUP (stand-up paddle board). Check her “Science by the Sea” Facebook page for photos and updates.
National Marine Educators Association Conference – Anchorage, AK
Ms. Sutton traveled back to Alaska this summer for the National Marine Educators Conference in Anchorage, AK.
EARTH 2012 Workshop – UNC-Wilmington, NC
The EARTH Workshop traveled east this summer to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for another week of Ocean Observation research with scientists and their data sites on SECOORA. Ms. Sutton also received funding to coordinate a Satellite EARTH workshop this summer. Satellite EARTH was hosted by the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores on August 15.
