Sperm Whale Necropsy

On a chilly day in February 2004, Ms. Sutton joined a group of researchers and Marine Veterinarians on the banks of the Cape Lookout National Seashore to assist in a whale necropsy of a juvenile sperm whale that had washed ashore. The whale bones recovered during this expedition later became known as “Bonehenge” and  are displayed in the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort, North Carolina.
