At midnight, I experienced my first Equatorial Crossing. I had wondered if their would be some type of celebratory fanfare or an announcement from the flight captain to mark the special occasion but, the cabin remained darkened for “sleep mode” and my fellow passengers seemed oblivious to the event. I guess the event carries more authenticity when the crossing is made by water or land rather than by air. So, I grabbed my water bottle, toasted to the heavens, and snapped a few photos from the onboard video display noting the current flight information (See Image: 1st Equatorial Crossing) before settling into my seat for a few hours of sleep.
